You have nothing in your skull, besides your name and a headache. But you are in danger.

The Dark Urge. Whatever that is. That is you.
PERSONALITY

It's unclear how much of the Dark Urge's original personality has remained intact following the loss of his memories and the implantation of the illithid tadpole, if any of it remains at all. There's a yawning, fathomless darkness within him - one that he is aware of to an extent, its reins only loosely held - that clamors and craves violence, depravity.

In conversation, he has a somewhat quiet, thoughtful bearing, preferring to allow others to speak in his stead or without interruption. His decisions trend toward pragmatism and he can be quite blunt when it comes to what he wants. He isn't afraid to bully, threaten, or cajole others to get it either.

He is wholly uninterested in doing things for the betterment of others - if he is to help, he's going to benefit in some manner whether it be gold, goods, or some tangible advantage. Goodwill doesn't buy food and it doesn't cure one of being a mindflayer. He cares nothing for the motivations or past of those around him. If they are useful, he'll use them. If they seek power for themselves or in a manner that he can benefit, he'll encourage it. If he's offered power, he'll take it.
ACT I
Spoilers
• All companions and animals recruited.

• Sided with the Emerald Grove. Brokered a temporary peace by unveiling Kagha’s plot with the Shadow Druids; persuaded her to abandon the ritual via use of the frescoes within the secluded chamber.

• Indulged Mattis’ scam; caught Silfy before anything could be stolen, allowed them to flee without consequence. Resisted the Urge to encourage Anabell’s death. Tempted by the Urge to allow a child’s drowning by the harpies until ensnared by their song – harpies slain, child rescued. Mol met in the children’s hideaway, given coin for their plans once they reach Baldur’s Gate.

• Watched Sazza die.

• Squirrel, jay, bard slain by the Urge. Confessed to killing the bard, but didn't elaborate on why.

• Ogres and goblins in Blighted Village slain. Watched deep gnome spin before intimidating the goblins into leaving, gnome released. Intimidated for loot. Town looted, including the necromancer’s lair and whispering depths. Book of Thay taken, amethyst found. Gale tangled with the book.

• Rugan assisted with the gnolls, inquired about the strongbox but ultimately left the matter to rest.

• Freed the counsellor. Man trapped by the fallen beam burned into death; dowry taken. Followed up with the Zhentarim in their hidden base in Waukeen’s rest. Haggled for the artist, refused to pay for his lodging to Baldur’s Gate.

• Goblin camp poisoned. Volo rescued. Refused the Absolute’s brand, but followed Priestess Gut to her hidden chambers to discuss removal of the tadpole. Drank the offered flask (fey heritage prevented the sleeping draught from taking effect) and killed the priestess when she turned hostile.

• Adventurer tortured with a poker then pulled on the rack until he confessed. Freed afterward. Remaining goblins and cult leaders slain. Halsin rescued from the kennels.

• Persuaded Lae'zel during confrontation with Voss to lie about the artefact, githyanki left without combat.

• Ignored the Society of Brillance’s request for a githyanki egg.

• Traveled to the creche where Lae'zel attempted to cleanse herself first, as was her right. Failed the perception check regarding the spirit surrounding the githyanki device, but managed to convince Lae’zel that it was going to kill her. The doctor and githyanki in the surrounding rooms were slain.

• Turned over the relic to the inquisitor and followed Vlaakith's command to enter the prism to deal with the interloper. Dream visitor spared, scornful of the Lich Queen’s need for a mortal pawn and accepting the visitor’s largely reasonable arguments/suggestions. Slaughtered all githyanki between the inquisitor’s chambers and the hidden exit beyond the quartermaster’s station. Shadowheart’s fears of wolves discussed with mention of trying to avoid them if possible.

• Lathander’s Blood was taken from the monastery without triggering the defensive weapon.

• Party ventured into the Underdark via the hidden entrance beneath the desecrated temple of Selûne. The gemstone used to power the statue was destroyed and the group ventured out through the main gates; would eventually circle back to destroy the Spector along with the petrified drow.

• Sided with the myconid circle against the duergar by the lake. Questioned Sovereign’s desire for blood, but when offered recompense, accepted the task of bringing back Nere’s head readily enough. Brought fungal samples back to the mindflayer to see if any further information regarding the tadpole could be obtained and suffered through the effects of the concoction with ill-grace. Ultimately refused the ring that was offered; there were enough in his party with incubating illithid that a ring to hide only one of them from an elder brain was likely to be worthless.
